Global Missions
Multiple times throughout the year, we send short-term mission teams throughout the world, ministering Christ’s love to the hungry and hurting. These teams have recently served in Mexico, Russia, France, Romania and China.
Ministering in Ghana
Southern Hills Baptist church members has partnered with Pastor Odai and Marantha Power Ministries during several trips to Accra and the surrounding bush country over the past three years. Projects have included, building open-air churches in villages, providing for over a dozen fresh water wells for villages, hosting soccer and Bible schools for children, medical missions, hosting church services and helping individuals with micro financing and training to start their own businesses and make their own income.
A current ministry underway is called Kairos Jewelry. This ministry provides work for a group of women in Ghana and sales of bracelets also provides for much needed mosquito nets for those in the region. Learn more at kairosjewelry.blogspot.com

Ministering in Mexico
During the past eight years or so, SHBC has sent numerous mission teams to Rio Verde, Mexico. Team members have hosted church services, children’s events and Bible schools, visited in prisons, and conducted sports camps, built churches and more.

In addition, several groups of adults will also travel to Ghana throughout 2012 to continue on-going mission points such as distributing much needed mosquito nets, holding medical missions clinics, providing clean water wells and training local pastors the Celebrate Recovery ministry guidelines.

Please Pray for Paul and Beth B. -- Serving in Italy
We hope that many of you remember Paul and Beth B. They served as missionaries in Brazil for over 15 years. Paul was a Missionary Pilot who worked along the Amazon, bring medical supplies and equipment, but primarily the story of Jesus Christ. Many, many of the Indians came to accept Christ because of Paul and Beth in Brazil. Three years ago, they were sent to Italy. Because they spoke Portuguese, and Portuguese and Italian are similar languages, their sponsors thought this would be a wonderful fit. They spent a year in language study and putting a team together of 3 other couples, and one single lady. They were sent to Torino, Italy (perhaps you've heard of the "shroud of Turin"....this is the place.) Italy, is a beautiful country with literally thousands of cathedrals, chapels, the Vatican, wonderful religious art museums. Yet, the country is spiritually barren. Paul describes their work much like "plowing cement". He says the people of Italy are completely disillusioned with any form of God. They have no interest in being engaged in conversation about Christ Jesus.
This is a painful assignment as Paul and Beth have been rejected, persecuted, avoided in Torino. There is a Church of Satan where they pray for the all the missionaries to be "eliminated”! In addition, several of the missionaries on their team have become so discouraged that they have resigned.
Paul called it a time of silence and confusion. But he has faith that God will accomplish His will there in Torino. They want to be faithful to be there when God calls them to act. They need our prayers.
