CARE MINISTRY
Caring Friends
This ministry wants to reach the part of our church family who is physically unable to attend worship services. We reach out to these dear ones through brief visits (every month or 6 weeks), a call to check on them, or a note of encouragement. How can you help?
First, tell us if you know of a church member who can’t attend services, even temporarily, so we can arrange for a caring friend to keep in touch with them.
Second, if you’d like to be a “Caring Friend” --someone who contacts and checks on our homebound, please
Email Josh.
Care N’ Share Group
Galatians 6:2 “Bear one another’s burdens, and thus fulfill the law of Christ”
The Care N’ Share group is all about letting this scripture happen in a close-up, friendly, caring setting.
Care N’ Share is an open group for anyone who is, or has been, the physical, emotional, or spiritual caregiver of another. While open to anyone, it is pledged to confidentiality. It is designed to offer unconditional love and support to those who struggle to meet the myriad needs of their loved one and simultaneously attempt to maintain their own personal health and well being as they meet the activities of daily life. This group meets every 2nd & 4th Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the Fireside room.
Alzheimer's Association
Several members at SHBC are involved in this important ministry. The Alzheimer’s Association is always looking for loving volunteers to help area caregivers in need of brief respite—a few hours to get out and run errands or relax. To visit about this opportunity, please call Georgiana Rainwater at 918-455-2987 or Cathy Sullins at 918-481-7892 or you may email
cathy.sullins@alz.org. Visit www.alz.org/alzokar for more information.
